Free Wi-Fi coming to local hospitals

10/12/2018

Free Wi-Fi will soon be available at North Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust.

Patients, visitors and staff will soon be able to take advantage of the service at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, which runs hospitals in Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Goole as well as some community services.

The network is called NHS Wi-Fi and will allow patients and visitors to connect to the internet, however streaming will be restricted.

People will be able to connect to NHS Wi-Fi by using a Facebook, Twitter or Google account.

The service will be rolled out in December, starting with the coffee shops and restaurants.

Steve Mattern, Associate Director of IM&T, said: “We know that Wi-Fi is something that people have come to expect to be available in public places and just how important it is for people to stay connected when they are in hospital. I am sure our patients and visitors will see this as a valuable service.”

There will be no technical support available from the Trust but a list of instructions and frequently asked questions will be available on the Trust’s website to help people get connected at https://www.nlg.nhs.uk/support/wi-fi-and-networks/
