Residential Care Interim Report
Over the past eight months Healthwatch East Riding of Yorkshire has carried out a series of 'Enter and View' visits to residential care homes in the East Riding area in order to review the quality of provision of residential care in East Riding.
This report presents a summary of our findings so far and highlights a number of issues that have arisen as part of this programme of visits.
In the East Riding of Yorkshire there are 147 residential care homes plus a further 20 homes registered to provide nursing care. The findings and recommendations included in this report relate to 15 'Enter and View' visits to residential care homes that were carried out by authorised Healthwatch volunteers between January and early August 2015. The findings in this report should not, therefore, be taken as representative of the provision of residential care across the whole county. Each Enter and View report relates to the service viewed on the date of the visit and is representative of the views of the people we spoke to who contributed to the report on that day. Nevertheless, this report has been produced to highlight some themes that have arisen whilst conducting these visits.
We will produce a further report in spring 2016 after completing another series of visits.
