Healthwatch East Riding of Yorkshire is the consumer champion for local health and social care services.  It takes the experiences that people have of local care and uses them to help influence change and bring about improvements to the health and social care services people receive.


The contract for the delivery of Healthwatch East Riding of Yorkshire is held by Meeting New Horizons (MNH), and we are currently recruiting for the following position.


Community Inclusion & Wellbeing Officer

Salary: £20,000 pa

Full time (35 hours per week)

12 month contract


The Covid-19 pandemic has both highlighted and exacerbated the inequalities faced by Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities. We are currently recruiting for a Community Inclusion & Wellbeing Officer who has experience in community engagement and skills in engaging with a diverse range of BAME communities to work at a community level, to hear people’s experiences in accessing health and social care services and to find how they can be improved to more meet the needs of everyone in our community. This will be a key role championing diversity within the East Riding and working to ensure that BAME and other minority communities are fully involved in the development of health and care services locally.


This is an exciting opportunity for someone to make a real difference and so we are seeking a highly motivated individual who can hit the ground running and demonstrate impact quickly. The post holder will need to build strong working relationships and will be required to use their expert knowledge to apply creative approaches to obtain trust and engagement in Healthwatch. You should also be comfortable operating within the community (in line with Covid guidelines) as well as with liaising with senior stakeholders within health and social care services. The post holder will be required to work autonomously, whilst ensuring that the wider teams is kept fully informed, and that effective recording and monitoring of progress is committed to.


Initially the role is fixed term for 12 months due to funding we have in place.
