COVID Vaccination Programme
Community vaccinations are being delivered by Primary Care Networks (PCNs), of which there are seven across East Riding of Yorkshire and details of their membership is attached. Due to logistical challenges and in line with requests from NHS England, each network is currently administering vaccinations all from one designated location to cover their population.
The order in which patients will be prioritised for the vaccinations has been determined by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). This includes those deemed to be at the greatest risk from COVID-19, such as individuals over 80, care home staff and care home residents. However, this will take time and more and more people will be contacted over the coming days and weeks. We are kindly asking people to be patient until they are contacted.
NHS staff are doing an incredible job to deliver what it is the largest vaccination programme in our history, at the same time as continuing to be there for everyone who needs care. Our staff are well-used to delivering thousands of vaccines a year and are moving as quickly as possible to roll out this vaccine to those who need it as we take delivery locally, but it’s important that we remember this will be a marathon, not a sprint.
The public have an important part to play and can help in the following ways:
· Please don’t contact the NHS to seek a vaccine, we will contact you;
· When we do contact you, please attend your booked appointments on time and not early;
· Please continue to follow all the guidance to control the virus and save lives.
