Young Healthwatch

We have exciting news! Our Young Healthwatch East Riding of
Yorkshire volunteer role just got better!

Being part of our Young Healthwatch team is often of interest to those wishing to work in the health or social care sectors, or who have a passion for improving services for all. Our volunteers play a vital role in supporting the team to gather public views and experiences of health and social care services.

What are the aims of Young Healthwatch?

  • To allow young people to have a voice and share their opinions and experiences of local health and social care services
  • To help young people gain knowledge on relevant health and social care subjects and know where they can access reliable information from
  • To have young people participate in community-based activities
  • To enable young people to have volunteering opportunities within Healthwatch
  • To promote a culture where young people’s opinions and experiences are listened to and valued and ensure that young people’s views are listened to by those who can make service changes.

What is the criteria to join?

  •  Aged 16 – 25
  • Ability to travel independently around Hull & the East Riding area

  • No formal qualifications but a good level of English reading, writing and speaking are required

What will I receive in return?

Our volunteers learn essential workplace skills through a 5-step programme. The steps include induction and training, office time, social media, shadowing the team and hosting your own hubs. Within these steps, volunteers can expect to gain skills in administration, communication, decision making, customer service, data analysis, problem solving, IT strategy, public speaking, event planning and more. In addition, volunteers may request a reference to support university or employment applications.
